2025/2026 Award Winners

In September 2025, we launched a new scholarship in partnership with Roche Canada for students who have achieved outstanding academic performance. Three students were awarded $2,250 to continue funding their studies. Congratulations to CSMLS student members Johanna Campbell, Nikita Byrne and Sydnee Calhoun! As the CSMLS International Founders Fund award winner, CSMLS member Judy Tran received $3,000 to attend the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science Conference being held in Chiba, Japan, in September 2026. Congratulations! In May, the six recipients of the Leaders of Tomorrow LABCON Grant were formally awarded at the LABCON2026 Gala in Vancouver. Congratulations to Julien Hazel Barredo, Jayatharshni Jeevaratnam, Chioma Chimeluogo Ezenwa, Ashlyn Zielke, Chedy Olela and Danika Paquet, who were granted registration, travel and accommodation fees to attend our flagship conference.

If you haven’t looked recently, the complete list of CSMLS grants, scholarships and awards you can apply for, or nominate your peers for, is available at csmls.org. Our next round of applications closes on November 1st, and includes:

  • Leaders of Tomorrow LABCON Grant gives students, new graduates and MLAs in good standing the chance to attend LABCON2027 in Ottawa!
  • David Ball Award recognizes members who have volunteered their time and talent to make a difference in their communities with a special memento.
  • Founders Fund – International provides financial help to attend or present at an international conference.
  • Honorary Awards recognize members and non-members for their outstanding service to CSMLS.
  • Honorary Fellowship Award honours former practising medical laboratory professionals who have gone on to distinguished careers in other professions, not limited to careers in science or medicine.
  • Distinguished Fellowship Award honours members who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical laboratory science at the national or international level. This is the highest level of recognition that can be bestowed upon a member.
  • Roche Canada Student Scholarship gives student members with strong academic performance in their final year of a Canadian training program the chance to win a scholarship to continue funding their studies.
